Weekly News: All roads lead to Drombane for U21 A Final

Under 21 A County Final

A huge weekend awaits our young hurlers as we face near neighbours Holycross Ballycahill on Sunday at 1:30pm in nearby Drombane. A huge crowd is expected for this local derby so you are advised to arrive in Drombane early. The support for this team has been excellent all year. Our support will be much needed again on Sunday.

Best of luck to the players and management who have prepared diligently for this game.

The sides have met once before in a County U21 Final and that was in 1996 and that resulted in a win for Holycross in a high scoring game played in Semple Stadium. Interestingly, Stephen Ferncombe’s uncle John (brother of Clonoulty Rossmore manager Michael) top scored for Holycross on that occasion with 1.12. Bonny Kennedy scored 2.06 for the green and gold on the day and Bonny’s 3 nephews Jack, Paddy and Seamus will line out on Sunday. Michael Heffernan played centre back on that occsasion and his son Jack is part of the Clonoulty Rossmore panel on Sunday. Full match report can be found on West Tipperary GAA’s X account this week.
